New developments from Welsh language podcast service Y Pod to help discover Welsh podcasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New developments and features<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Y Pod Cyf<\/a><\/strong>. is pleased to roll out developments that we\u2019ve been working on over the past few months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The developments provide an enhanced user experience for Welsh language podcast listeners and are based on user feedback and statistics on user journeys within Y Pod<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Homepage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new homepage has been developed with the mobile user in mind as 60% of users are browsing Y Pod<\/a><\/strong> on a mobile device or tablet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new homepage and site load faster and are easier to navigate across a range of devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Areas of the homepage are automated and load the latest podcast episodes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019re also in the process of creating a mobile application for the service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Podcast player<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Y Pod has implemented our own bespoke podcast player that has been developed in-house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We believe that the new player improved playback for users and results in Y Pod becoming the place to listen to podcasts through the medium of Welsh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discover<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Y Pod is all about discovering Welsh language podcasts and we’ve made it easier than ever for users to discover podcasts through the creation of the discovery area<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Categories<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

6 categories have been added in order to help users discover podcasts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The categories were created during our work in creating the Welsh language Alexa Skill<\/strong> \u2018Welsh Language Podcasts<\/strong>\u2019<\/a> alongside Mobilise Cloud<\/a><\/strong> and S4C<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Welsh language categories are<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Adloniant a Cherddoriaeth<\/a><\/strong> (Entertainment and music)<\/li>
  2. Chwaraeon<\/a><\/strong> (Sport)<\/li>
  3. Crefydd<\/a><\/strong> (Religion)<\/li>
  4. Materion Cyfoes<\/a><\/strong> (Current affairs)<\/li>
  5. Plant<\/a><\/strong> (Children)<\/li>
  6. Sioeau Ffeithiol<\/a><\/strong> (Factual shows)<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Search<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    A live search feature has been added in order for users to discover podcasts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Users are able to search for a podcast by title, subject and also by the host name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Latest Podcasts<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The 10 latest Welsh podcasts<\/strong> are collated and listed on the latest podcasts<\/a><\/strong> page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The page is a useful way of knowing what podcasts are published regularly in the Welsh language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Welsh Learners<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    We\u2019re proud to have collated a selection of podcasts aimed at Welsh learners. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Welsh Learners podcast<\/a><\/strong> category was put together in response to the number of users looking for podcasts for Welsh learners<\/strong> and the search terms used to discover Y Pod. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    There has been a large increase in Welsh learners online during 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Favourites<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Users can now create a list of their favourite Welsh language podcasts<\/a><\/strong> using Y Pod.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The favourites feature was added in order for users to bookmark their favourite Welsh language podcast in order to return to listen time and again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    All Podcasts<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Whilst we have categorised and made it easier for users to discover podcasts we continue to believe that user should be able to access a list of all podcasts available in Welsh<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Y Pod is the only podcast service that lists all of the podcasts available in Welsh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Radio<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    We\u2019ve improved the radio pages<\/a><\/strong> and implemented our new player for users to listen to live radio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
